Typing in Japanese
After changing your settings following the instructions on
Setting up your English Windows XP computer to use
Japanese, it should be fairly simple to start typing in Japanese.
Step 1: Go to the bottom right-hand corner of the task bar
where you should see a little EN.
Step 2: Choose Japanese and the task bar should change to JP.
Step 3: Press the bottom-left ALT key and the upper-left tilde (~)
key at the same time. Do the same thing to switch back to
English. Make sure that the bottom task bar has JP showing.
Now
you can type in Japanese! (^^)
This only changes the
language for the current application.
Inputting in Japanese
Typing in Japanese
To type in Japanese you only need to type the sound of the
character. For example to type あ (
a) type a, to type か (ka) type ka
and press return. To type ん (
n) type nn. To type in katakana press
F7 after typing in the letter. To type in
kanji press the space bar to
scroll through the choices or press the number next to the
kanji and
then press return to choose the
kanji you are searching for. See the
example below.
